How to Prep Freeze Somali Flatbread aka Sabayad Sida Loo Diyaariyo oo Loona Barafeeyo

Markaad diyaarka tahay, kululee maqlaha, oo sabaayadii oo baraf ah saar (sidan ayaa iigu fududeed) sug ilaa ilaa iyo 1 daqiiqo, kadib saliid yar kushup oorog, kari ilaa iyou 1 daqiiqo oo kale, ama ilaa intay ka casaanayan labda dhinacba. Waad rog rogi kartaa.

My home loves eating Sabaayad/chapati. Unfortunately, when you don’t have enough time, it always becomes tricky (although that doesn’t stop us šŸ™‚ ) One day, I decided to try this method of freezing the prepped sabaayad and see what happens, and it came out pretty good. I believe frozen sabaayad can last up to 3 months, but it never lasts that long in my home, lol. Directions:

If you like the convenience of a frozen sabaayad but want it to taste freshly cooked sabaayad, you can freeze uncooked sabaayad dough. Make the sabaayad dough following the recipe on top. Roll out the sabaayad in the same way you would if you were preparing to cook them fresh. Using a baking sheet or a large enough flat, safe freezer dish, stack the sabaayad, placing parchment paper between each sabaayad. Wrap them in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and put them in the freezer. If you’re using plastic freezer bags, ensure that the freezer bags are flat so that the sabaayad doesn’t lose its shape.
